The Basics of ITIL® (IT Infrastructure Library) From a Software Practitioner’s Perspective
Speaker:
John Woods, IT Management Consultant
Overview:
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a set of concepts and policies for managing information technology (IT) infrastructure, development and operations. Many organizations throughout the world are using it as a reference when building their own processes and procedures for IT operations.
Is this just another process model? Why do businesses care about this model? John Woods will give a brief history of the origin of ITIL and where it has had the most traction to date. He will cover why organizations invest time and effort to develop ITIL-compliant practices. He will focus on several of the key processes that are most interesting to a software development/project management audience, and briefly define the other areas, so we know what they cover. The ones that are most directly connected to software development are Change Management, Service Asset and Configuration Management, and Release and Deployment Management.
